Sustainability in numbers
The average inhabitant in Greece generates more than 0.5 tons of municipal waste annually (eurostat), out of which less than 20% is officially recycled.
Heracles Packaging by recycling almost 2.500 tons of newsprint and used cardboard each year actively contributes to the increase of this percentage.
For every ton of recovered paper we utilize, we save about 4.000 kWh, enough power to cover the annual electricity needs of the average European household.
Each ton of recycled paper saves up to 26m3 of water. Given our annual recycling capacity, this translates into more than 270 million glasses of water saved each year!
Our recycling capacity prevents more than 6.000m3 of possible landfill. With the average Greek house at 300 m3 that equals to a 20 stories high block of flats.
Thanks to the utilization of recovered paper as raw material, Heracles Packaging preserves up to 42.500 trees every year. That’s more than 15 hectares of dense forest!
